Function
The heated coolant flows through the heat exchanger's coiled pipes. The heat is conducted to the outside via the coiled pipes and fins. This in turn heats the passing air flow, which is directed to the vehicle interior via the various ventilation and heater vents.

Only a certain volume of coolant flows through the heat exchanger, so that the requirement of temperature-controlled coolant is fulfilled. Regulation is carried out via the heat exchanger cutoff motor (M16/32).
