Instrument Cluster Error Message

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of the below error message(s) in the Instrument cluster at high outside temperatures and the fault codes 9050 [Consumer Shutoff, Stage 2] and 9051 [Consumer Shutoff, Stage 1] are stored in the Battery Control Module (BCM), the battery control module may need to be replaced.

^ "Stop! Battery/Alternator"

^ "Brake defective! Stop the vehicle!"

Spare wheel well temperatures greater than 50°C may create unstable conditions for some battery control modules. These battery control modules may not display any voltage or current values during these conditions. Follow the procedure below to resolve.

1) Check the Q-status and part number of the Battery Control Module (BCM).

Note:
Temperature tested battery control modules start with a software release of Q1 (A211 540 27 45) and have a white "HT" stamp on the housing.

2) If a Battery Control Module (BCM) is found installed with an older Q-status than indicated in the above note, remove/install/replace with newer BCM. Refer to WIS document GF54.21-P-4121T for further information on the BCM location and function.
