Component Identification:

6 different functions can be selected using selector lever (94), 3 different transmission modes at the transmission mode switch and 2 different transmission modes at the automatic transmission program selection button.

Selector lever positions:
^ Park lock and start position
^ Reverse gear
^ Neutral and start position (no power transmission, vehicle can move freely)
^ Drive (all 7 forward gears are available)
^ + Touch: Upshift by one gear in each case

The shift range is expanded simultaneously in transmission modes "C" (except code P98 Black Series) and "S". Press and hold: Direct shift to drive position "D"

The shift range is displayed in the instrument cluster (A1). If the shift range is restricted, upshifts occur close to the engine cutoff speed.

^ - Touch: Downshift by one gear per touch In transmission modes "C" and "S" the shift range is restricted at the same time.

Press and hold: The transmission changes into a shift range from which the vehicle can be accelerated or slowed down favorably.

The following transmission modes can be selected:
^ Transmission mode "S":

Starting off in 1st gear for all driving situations

^ Transmission mode "C" (except code P98 Black Series):

Starting off in 2nd gear except in 1st gear shift range.

The gear changes take place at lower engine speed.

If kick down is actuated, the gears are shifted up and down as for transmission mode "S".

^ Transmission mode "M":

Direct gear selection by means of selector lever (94) or left steering wheel gear shifter and right steering wheel gear shifter (up to 31.5.06) or steering wheel gear shifter MINUS and steering wheel gear shifter PLUS (as of 1.6.06)
