Climate System Blowing Warm/ Hot Air Only

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of the climate system blowing warm / hot air only, even though cooling is requested, this could be caused by a malfunctioning temperature sensor in the Overhead Control Panel (OCP). To remedy, follow the below steps.

Additional info for convertibles:

If the customer states that the AC system functions properly with the roof open, but blows warm only when roof is closed, this could be another indicator of a malfunctioning temperature sensor in the OCP.

Prerequisites:

^ If for a convertible model, convertible roof is closed.

^ Windows are open

^ Engine 2000 rpm

1. Place temperature dial on "max. Cool". The AC system should deliver cold air out of the air ducts.

If no cold air is delivered by the system, check AC components and repair as necessary. If system is providing cold air, proceed to step 2.

2. Set temperature to 66°F on both the driver and passenger side and blower speed on 50%. If the temperature sensor in the OCP is delivering a wrong reading to the push button unit, the system will now blow warm air instead of the desired 66°F.

3. Using SDS follow menu path: "Control Units" --> "Air Conditioning" --> "C-AAC" --> "Actual values" --> "Other actual values"

4. Compare actual values of in-car temperature sensor N70b1 and N22/7b1 (Figure 1 and 2).

5. If the actual value of the temperature sensor in the OCP shows far less (at least 20°F less) than the actual ambient temperature, the sensor is malfunctioning and the OCP has to be replaced. Refer to EPCNet for the applicable part number.
