Parking Assist Distance Sensor: Description and Operation

NOTE: There are several versions of the sensors depending on vehicle model/model year. Different versions of sensors must not be installed together.


A defective seating or mechanical damage to the sensors or an incorrect version of the sensor may cause faults or incorrect displays.


The sensor actuated by the control module emits an ultrasonic signal and is ready to receive after a short delay (the time necessary for the membrane oscillations to decay).

Each sensor receives the echoes of its own ultrasound signals and the echoes of ultrasound signals from adjacent sensors. The distance to the obstacle is calculated from the journey time of the echoes.

Detection angle:
Horizontal: 120°
Vertical: 60°
