ESP Visit Workshop with Fault Code C1185
If you receive customer reports in the above models vehicles of the "ESP Visit Workshop" being illuminated in the instrument cluster and fault code C1185 (A7/7b1 BAS diaphragm travel sensor electrical fault) is stored in the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) control module, this may be the result of a layer of oxidation on contact pins 3, 5 and 7 in the connector at the ESP electronic control module. This causes an increased contact resistance resulting in a fault in the membrane travel sensor. Replacing the ESP electronic control module will not result in a long-lasting solution. If the guided tests within STAR Diagnosis do not resolve this issue, perform the repair as outlined in WIS document SM42.45-P-0001B.
