GF82.95-P-2001QJ Authorization, Function

GF82.95-P-2001QJ Authorization, Function
- with CODE (349) E Call emergency call system
- with CODE (498) Japanese version

With authorization the service provider authorizes triggering of the emergency call. This authorization is vehicle-related, not person- related.

An authorization is required in the following cases:
^ When starting up the system for the first time
^ When the vehicle owner changes
^ After expiration of a period of 3 months since the last authorization

The following is checked via the mobile telephone during the authorization:
^ the vehicle identification number (VIN),
^ if the system functions properly (position specification).

If a system is not authorized the emergency-call will not function.

If the system is not authorized, an E-call is not possible. The indicator lamp in the SOS pushbutton switch (S93/3) comes on and an error message appears in the instrument cluster display.

Authorization at first-time startup
Authorization is accomplished via a telephone call to the E-CALL center

Authorization sequence
The Mercedes-Benz Service Station notifies the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center (CAC) about the date of the startup. There the transmission for the authorization message for the corresponding vehicle is prepared. For authorization the transmitter key in the vehicle must be in (A8/1) position "circuit 15R ON". The actual authorization is accomplished automatically and has a duration of approx. 2 min.

To ensure a trouble-free operation, the following should be avoided during authorization:
^ triggering of the emergency alarm
^ switching off "circuit 15R"
^ setting emergency call to the diagnostic mode (via handheld tester or DAS).

Deauthorization
When the vehicle owner changes, the emergency call system must be deauthorized before handing over the vehicle to avoid misuse. The deauthorization process also requires that CAC be informed.

For authorization or deauthorization a malfunction-free phone reception is required: if necessary, park the vehicle out in the open.
