Distronic (DTR) Display and Operating Information
Distronic (DTR) Display And Operating Information
Shown on model 211
S40/4 CC [TPM] switch
S40/4v1 Yellow LED, variable speed limiter
Operating the Distronic
Operation takes over the TPM switch. The yellow light emitting diode in the TPM switch must be out otherwise switch over between Speedtronic und Distronic by actuating switch position 5.
(USA) Operation takes over the TPM switch (S40).
Displays in the instrument cluster
If the Distronic is activated, for example, at 130 km/hour, only one or two segments in the area of the stored speed of 130 km/hour light up in order to indicate the set speed to the driver.
The display shows the set speed for approx. 5 seconds and then "Distronic".
The set target distance is represented by the bar in front of the driver's own vehicle. This is dependent on the speed at which the vehicle is driven.
If the Distronic detects a vehicle ahead driving at a lower speed, further segments between the desired speed (e.g. 130 km/hour) and the speed of the vehicle ahead (e.g. 80 km/hour) light up. At the same time, the system reduces the speed of its own vehicle until it matches the speed of the vehicle ahead. During this time, the vehicle ahead is shown on the left in the display.
In the right multifunction display the driver's own vehicle (4) is shown on the right edge of the screen, as well as a distance scale (2) to the vehicle ahead. The bar (3) below the distance scale marks the target distance selected with the Distronic DTR distance potentiometer.
If the Distronic detects a slower vehicle ahead, a second vehicle (1) appears at the left-hand edge of the screen, which moves slowly across the distance scale. At the same time, the Distronic reduces the speed of its own vehicle until the selected specified distance is reached.
The switch status of the audible warning function can also be recognized from the loudspeaker symbol (5) in the multifunction display.
If the separation between the vehicles goes below the nominal separation the separation indicator lamp in instrument cluster lights up. An intermittent signal (takeover signal) also sounds. The distance warning lamp remains active even when the Distronic is off. The intermittent signal chime can be deactivated when the Distronic is switched off.
The "Distronic passive" warning also appears if the Distronic is switched on and the accelerator pedal is not fully released. The Distronic cannot be switched on, or if already on, shuts down:
- For up to 2 minutes after engine start
- When the parking brake is on
- When the ESP is switched off or is active
- At speeds below 30 km/hour or above 180 km/hour
- In selector lever position P, R or N
- When braking
- LIM indicator lamp (Speedtronic) on
- Cruise control pushbutton switch in switch position 3 (OFF).
