The xenon headlamp control unit (E1n1) and the xenon headlamp control unit (E2n1) are an integrated solution for the functions of a xenon ballast, an automatic headlamp range adjustment and the dynamic curve illumination in one housing. The xenon headlamp control unit (E1n1) is installed at the left and the xenon headlamp control unit (E2n1) at the right headlamp. The two control units operate in a master/slave combination.

The assignment as to whether the control unit is master (left headlamp) or slave (right headlamp) is performed by the different plug codings at the control unit plug for the headlamp. After plugging in at the headlamp, the corresponding control unit recognizes its function and the vehicle side on which it has been installed. Both control units are connected to one common diagnostic line, each control unit ensuring the complete scope of diagnosis.
