Auxiliary Cabin Heater Fuel Pump: Service and Repair



AR83.70-P-5652Q Remove/Install Fuel Metering Pump
- with CODE (228) Stationary heater or retrofitted stationary heater







DANGER:
- Risk of explosion from fuel igniting, risk of poisoning from inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin from contact with fuel
- No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking. Pour fuels only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.
- Risk of explosion from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury through burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries
- No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking. Wear protective gloves, acid-resistant clothing and safety glasses. Pour battery electrolyte only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.


1 Disconnect ground cable of battery
2 Release, disconnect fuel metering pump connector (Y23x1)
3 Pinch fuel hoses (1)
- See "Special Tool - Clamp" given below.

4 Disconnect fuel hoses (1)

NOTE: Seal off fuel hoses (1) to prevent fuel from escaping.

5 Unscrew nuts (2)
6 Remove STH fuel metering pump (Y23) with bracket (3)
7 Install in the reverse order
8 Perform basic programming
9 Read diagnostic trouble code memory and erase

Testing
10 Start up stationary heater

NOTE: If the heater (A6) switches off automatically before reaching its operating temperature and cannot be restarted again, a fault interlock has occurred Override fault interlock refer to STAR DIAGNOSIS.

11 Perform function check
