Temperature Gauge: Testing and Inspection

Test Coolant Level Indicator

Remove, Install
1 Remove coolant level sensor (S41)

NOTE: The coolant level sensor (S41) is not enveloped directly with coolant and can be removed from the expansion reservoir or radiator without draining the coolant.

2 Connect multimeter (DMM-5) to coolant level sensor (S41)

Inspect

NOTE: Use float with ring magnet from expansion reservoir of models 129, 140, 202, 208, 209, 210.

3 Test switch point of "maximum" coolant level

NOTE:
- Test without using ring magnet!
- If the resistance indicated by the multimeter (DMM-5) is equal to infinite, Install new coolant level sensor (S41).

4 Test switch point of "minimum" coolant level

NOTE:
- To do this guide ring magnet (1) along coolant level sensor (S41) until the contact in the coolant level sensor (S41) switches.
- Specified resistance = 5 Ohms
- If the contact is not switched or if the resistance indicated is too high, Install new coolant level sensor (S41)

5 Install in the reverse order.
