- No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking.
- Wear protective gloves, acid-resistant clothing and safety glasses. Pour battery electrolyte only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

1 Disconnect ground cable of battery
2 Remove ashtray housing (2) at front center console
3 Remove screws (4).
4 Remove cover from center console (1)
5 Disconnect couplings (5) at upper control panel control module (N72/1)
6.1 Disconnect couplings at automatic heater and air conditioning
- With code (581b) convenience automatic air conditioning
6.2 Disconnect couplings at automatic air conditioning
- Except code (581b) convenience automatic air conditioning
7 Install in the reverse order
8 Perform basic programming
9 Read diagnostic trouble code memory and erase
10 Check for proper function
