Trailer Hitch Mechanical System:










1. Detach crossmember (50) from rear end panel.
The crossmember is no longer required.







2. Remove stop plug (9) below taillamp on left side of rear center section.
The stop plug (9) is no longer required.











3. Remove rear stop plug (10) from left vehicle longitudinal member.
4. Remove rear stop plug (11) from right vehicle longitudinal member.
Stop plugs (10, 11) are no longer required.







5. Remove front stop plug (12) from right wheel well.
Stop plugs (12) are no longer required.







6. Remove front stop plug (13) from left wheel well.
Stop plugs (13) are no longer required.







7. Pull seal (4) onto right longitudinal member reinforcement (3).
The longitudinal member reinforcement is labeled with a sticker. Use antifriction agent. Observe installation position of gasket (4). The arrow on the seal (4) must point upward.

8. Insert right longitudinal member reinforcement (3) into right vehicle longitudinal member.







9. Pull seal (4) onto left longitudinal member reinforcement (2).
The longitudinal member reinforcement is labeled with a sticker. Use antifriction agent. Observe installation position of gasket (4). The arrow on the seal (4) must point upward.

10. Insert left longitudinal member reinforcement (2) into left vehicle longitudinal member.







11. Screw the left longitudinal member reinforcement (2) finger-tight onto the left vehicle longitudinal member with two micro-encapsulated bolts M10 x 25 (7).
12. Screw the right longitudinal member reinforcement (3) finger-tight onto the right vehicle longitudinal member with two micro-encapsulated bolts M10 x 25 (7).


Component Identification:






13. Fit a centering punch (30) onto each outer, upper stud (enlarged detail) of trailer hitch cross member (1).
The alignment punches (30) are identical for left and right.







14. Fit trailer hitch crossmember (1) to left longitudinal member reinforcement (2) and right longitudinal member reinforcement (3) and screw on finger tight with two M12 x 1.5 x 35 micro-encapsulated bolts (5) each.







15. Tighten trailer hitch crossmember with one self-locking combination nut M10 with spring washer (60) each on the left and right in the trunk side compartments with the specified torque.
16. Remove both centering drifts from studs and tighten trailer hitch crossmember with one self-locking combination nut M10 with spring washer (60) each on the left and right in the trunk side compartments to the specified torque.











17. Fit anchoring lugs (15) to micro-encapsulated M10 x 60 (6) bolts and screw in on left and right side of trailer hitch bracket to specified torque.











18. Tighten both M12 x 1.5 x 35 micro-encapsulated bolts (5) on the left and right of the trailer hitch crossmember (1) to the specified torque.







19. Tighten left longitudinal member reinforcement (2) and right longitudinal member reinforcement (3) to vehicle longitudinal member to specified torque using two M10 x 25 self-locking bolts (7) each.
