Removal and Replacement



Remove/Install Parking Brake Pedal Assembly











Remove/Install

DANGER:
- Lethal injuries are possible if vehicle slips off of lifting platform
- Align vehicle between the columns of the hydraulic hoist and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

CAUTION: See notes on self-locking nuts and bolts


1 Raise vehicle with lifting platform
2 Preload automatic slack adjuster (92)
3 Unscrew bolt (93) from intermediate lever (91) of automatic cable slack adjuster (92)
4 Remove left cover below instrument panel
5 Remove front left floor covering
6 Loosen clamps (arrows) and remove cover (76) of pedal assembly (71)

NOTE: The rear clamp is only accessible when the defroster nozzle with rosette is removed.

7 Unhook brake cable (85) from the tensioning shackle on the parking brake pedal (75) and unclip from the pedal assembly (71)

NOTE: Installation: Ensure that rubber ring (85c) is seated correctly.

8 Unscrew bolts (72) and take off pedal assembly (71)

NOTE: Push pedal assembly (71) inwards slightly and remove from cover (76a).

CAUTION: Do not loosen Torx bolts on the back of the pedal assembly (71), otherwise the pedal assembly (71) will be damaged beyond repair.

9 Detach control cable (79) for releasing parking brake.

NOTE: To do so, first remove the bracket (77a) and then detach the control cable (79) from the release lever (77). Unclip control cable (79) from pedal assembly (71) using tool (010).

10 Install in the reverse order
11 Slacken automatic cable slack adjuster (92)
12 Check version of pedal assembly (71)


13 Operate parking brake pedal (75) and check pedal travel of parking brake pedal (75)

NOTE:
- If the pedal travel is not within the tolerance range then adjust parking brake
- Control force on parking brake pedal
- Number of notches that parking brake pedal has to be pressed
