Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

Remove and installing catalytic converter or front exhaust system







1 Disconnect connectors of oxygen and diagnostic sensors
2 Unscrew bolts (11/5) with nuts (11/3) at flange connection between front exhaust system/rear exhaust system
3 Unscrew screws (11/1) at flange connection of front exhaust system/exhaust manifold
- If bolts are sluggish, or thread damaged, Replace rivet nuts in exhaust manifold.

4 Detach three-way catalytic converters/ front exhaust system from rubber mount (9/2)
5 Lift out catalytic converters/ front exhaust system
- Check seal rings (11/4) for damage and replace if necessary.
- Use emery cloth to remove combustion and corrosion residues at connection points. Replace nuts (11/3).

6 Install in the reverse order.

NOTE: Installation: Install three-way catalytic converters (158) without stress.
