AR32.25-P-1017N Remove/Install the Suspension Assembly



Remove/Install The Suspension Assembly
- with CODE (487a) Active Body Control (ABC)
- except CODE (979) Special protection version
- except CODE (Z07) Top protection







CAUTION: Replace self-locking nuts and bolts

DANGER:
- Lethal injuries are possible if vehicle slips off of lifting platform
- Align vehicle between the columns of the hydraulic hoist and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
- Risk of injury to skin or eyes from hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure. Risk of poisoning from swallowing hydraulic fluid.
- Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and eye protection.

NOTE:
- See notes on ABC-suspension
- The motion sensors must be calibrated using STAR DIAGNOSIS every time the suspension struts are replaced

1 Disconnect plug connectors for left and right front suspension strut motion sensors (B22/4, B22/5)
2 Unscrew nuts (40c)
3 Remove front wheels
4 Open bleed screws (56) and depressurize suspension struts (40)

CAUTION:
- The engine must be shut off for at least 5 minutes.
- Open bleed screws carefully so that the hydraulic oil can drain out slowly to prevent the body from dropping too rapidly.

5 Unscrew nut (40d)
6 Undo quick-release coupling (40b) on hydraulic line

NOTE: Remove cap.

CAUTION:
- Ensure that no dirt enters the open quick-release coupling.
- Installation: Ensure that the quick-release fitting is fully engaged.

7 Unscrew bolt (40a)

CAUTION: Ensure that the bolts (40a) are seated at least flush with the spring strut (40) or slightly recessed in it.

8 Push down spring link, undo suspension strut (40) from ball joint and remove downwards

CAUTION: Lift spring link with transmission jack while pushing the ball joint pin firmly into the cone in the spring strut.

- Ensure that the pin is properly seated in the conical joint.
- Dispose of suspension strut.

9 Install in the reverse order
10 Fill and bleed ABC system.
