GF32.25-P-1000-03B Spring strut, function
- with CODE (487) Active body control (ABC)
Component Identification:
The weight of the vehicle is supported by the oil in the hydraulic cylinder and by a coil spring connected in series. This spring is supported toward the wheel on a spring disk firmly connected to the shock absorber tube, and toward the body on the single-acting hydraulic cylinder (plunger).
By altering the position of the hydraulic cylinder in the direction of the spring strut and the resultant change in the spring length, additional forces are produced with which it is possible to influence the suspension and damping within the frequency range up to 5 Hertz.
The vehicle level is raised/lowered by filling and emptying the oil chamber, which results in a shortening/extension of the spring strut.
Oil is pumped into the spring strut or oil flows out of the spring strut into the return flow circuit in order to extend or retract the hydraulic cylinder.
A passive two-tube gas pressure shock absorber connected in parallel to the hydraulic cylinder and spring strut, is responsible for absorbing higher-frequency wheel oscillations. The active damping of the low-frequency body oscillations is performed by the hydraulic cylinder.
