Prerequisites for testing generator

Connection Schematic Between Battery And Alternator:

Testing
1 Open engine hood and raise to vertical position
2 Check fuse of generator (G2) in terminal block circuit 30 (X4/10) and replace if necessary

NOTE: Only on model 220 with engine 137

Replace: The complete terminal block circuit 30 and 61 (X4/10) must be replaced.

3 Check electrical line terminal 30 to the following items for firm seat and flawless condition
- Battery (G1/+)
- Terminal block circuit 30 and 61 (X4/10)
- Generator (G2/B+)

4 Check electric cable for circuit 31 at the following positions for correct seat and condition
- Battery (G1/-)
- Battery ground (W10)
- Ground strap between engine and body

5 Inspect tension of poly V-belt
6 Inspect condition of poly V-belt
7 Check the charge indicator in the multipurpose instrument

NOTE: If charging current is correct, no interference message appears in the display of the instrument cluster.

8 Close engine hood.
