If you encounter all 00000" or "------" illuminated in the odometer's multifunction display after the installation of a replacement instrument cluster on Model 220 / 215 vehicles Model Year 2002 or 2003 only, perform the following.

1. Ensure that the latest software update is installed into STAR Diagnosis.

2. Ensure that "Redundant Distance Storage" is set to Active, by entering into the following STAR Diagnosis menus.

Control Units--> Information & Communication--> ICM Instrument Cluster with Maintenance Interval Display--> Control Unit Adaptations--> Version Coding--> Coding Specific for Instrument Cluster.

3. Transfer the correct mileage into the instrument cluster by entering into the following SDS menus.

Control Units--> Information & Communication--> ICM Instrument Cluster with Maintenance Interval Display--> Control Unit Adaptations--> Settings--> Instrument Cluster Settings--> Increase Reading of Total Distance Counter--> NO-F4.

Note:
You must select NO-F4, "The reading of the odometer is adopted automatically by the drive authorization system". Once you select "No-F4", the original mileage will be restored.

Note:
Only for 2002 and 2003 Model Years can the instrument cluster be ordered through the PDC without stored mileage. Model Years 2000 and 2001 must be ordered with mileage already stored. Refer to DTBs P-B-54.30/68 and P-B-54.30/57 for additional reference.

Note:
If the instrument cluster and the EIS (Electronic Ignition Switch) are replaced simultaneously, then the instrument cluster must be ordered pre-programmed from the PDC specifying both the VIN and mileage.
