Distronic (DTR) Display And Operating Information
The Distronic is operated with a variable cruise control switch (S40/4)
LIM indicator lamp (S40/4v1) in the pushbutton switch for the variable cruise control system.
Operation of switch position 1:
The Distronic is switched on with the speed of the vehicle at that moment. If the switch is operated continuously or is operated several times, the desired speed is increased in steps of 10 km/h to a maximum of 180 km/h.
Caution! Vehicle can accelerate up to the selected desired speed.
Operation of switch position 2:
The Distronic is switched on with the speed of the vehicle at that moment. If the switch is operated continuously or is operated several times, the desired speed is reduced in steps of 10 km/h.
Caution! Vehicle decelerates to the preselected desired speed.
Note: When (1) and (2) are operated, the speed displayed is stored.
Operation from switch position 3:
The Distronic is switched off.
Caution! The speed last selected remains stored.
Operation from switch position 4:
If the Distronic is switched off, the speed stored in the memory can be retrieved. The distance control is thus activated. The desired speed is increased in steps of 1 km/h up to a maximum of 180 km/h.
Displays in the instrument cluster
If the Distronic is activated, for example, at 130 km/h, only one or two segments in the area of the stored speed of
130 km/h light up in order to indicate the set speed to the driver.
The set speed appears in the display for about 5 s and a symbol of the own vehicle on the right-hand edge.
The set specified distance is shown with the bar graph. This is dependent on the speed at which the vehicle is driven.
If the Distronic detects a vehicle ahead driving at a lower speed, further segments between the desired speed (e.g. 130 km/h) and the speed of the vehicle ahead (e.g. 80 km/h) light up. At the same time the system reduces the speed of the own vehicle until the speed of the vehicle ahead is reached. During this time, the vehicle ahead is shown in the display.
Variable vehicle speed limit
If the limiter is active (LIM indicator lamp in variable cruise control switch on) the entire light band from the start of the scale up to the preselected speed is visible. The speed range which is not used, remains dark.
When the limiter is active, the message "LIMIT" appears briefly in display together with the speed limit (e.g. 210 km/h).
The instrument cluster can be used to permanently limit the speed to 210 km/hour when operating with winter tires. The light band in the speedometer beyond 210 km/h remains dark.
