Note:
For Information Only!
If you are replacing the instrument cluster and/or the EIS (Electronic Ignition Switch) on the above model vehicles please use the following charts when ordering your instrument cluster and the subsequent procedure when installing the EIS and/or instrument cluster.
Procedure 1-Coding After The Installation of Instrument Cluster With or Without Mileage Entered From The PDC and an EIS With a Part Number of 215 545 07 08 or later
1. Ensure that the latest software update is installed into STAR Diagnosis
2. Ensure that "Redundant Distance Storage" is set to Active, by entering into the following STAR Diagnosis menus:
^ Control Units-->Information & Communication-->ICM Instrument Cluster with Maintenance Interval Display-->Control Unit Adaptations-->Version Coding-->Coding Specific for Instrument Cluster.
3. Transfer coding from old cluster to new cluster:
^ Control Units-->Information & Communication-->ICM Instrument Cluster with Maintenance Interval Display-->Initial startup with automatic takeover of settings of previous control unit (Press F2)
4. Switch off ignition
5. Replace old instrument cluster with new instrument cluster following WIS instructions (AR54.30-P-60151)
6. Switch on ignition
7. Transfer coding to new unit by pressing F3 (YES)
8. Press F2 after coding has been transferred

You must select NO-F4; "The reading of the odometer is adopted automatically by the drive authorization system". Once you select "No-F4", the original mileage, which is stored in the EIS, will be restored.
Procedure 2-Coding After The Installation of Instrument Cluster With Mileage Entered From The PDC and an EIS With a Part Number less than 215 545 07 08
Follow procedure 1 except for the following change:
Skip step 2 ("Redundant Distance Storage" must not be set)
Note:
In some instances, old instrument clusters will not be readable. Please select "Initial startup with manual settings for new control unit." This option will allow you to code instrument cluster manually. New instrument cluster must already be installed to perform this option.
Procedure 3-Coding After The Installation Of Electronic Ignition Switch part number 215 545 07 08 or later
1. Ensure that the latest software update is installed into STAR Diagnosis
2. Ensure that Redundant Distance Storage" is set to Active, by entering into the following STAR Diagnosis menus:
Control Units-->Information & Communication-->ICM Instrument Cluster with Maintenance Interval Display-->Control Unit Adaptations-->Version Coding-->Coding Specific for Instrument Cluster
