The ignition must be switched off.

1 Release pressure from booster circuit (depress brake pedal approximately 30 times).
2 Switch on the ignition and wait until the motor-and-pump assembly is deactivated.

Read the motor-and-pump assembly's pressure at deactivation from the pressure gauge.

If the pressure lies between 172 and 190 bar:

System OK.

Pressure less than 172 bar or greater than 190 bar:

Malfunction in motor-and-pump assembly.

3 Switch off ignition.
4 Depress brake pedal to reduce reservoir pressure to 138 - 144 bar.
5 Switch on ignition and note whether motor-and-pump assembly starts to run.

Motor-and-pump assembly starts: System OK.

Motor-and-pump assembly fails to start:

Malfunction in motor-and-pump assembly.

6 Switch off ignition.
