Checking Power-Steering Pump Pressure
- with CODE (487a) Active body control (ABC)

Remove
1 Remove air cleaner
2 Unplug connector (arrow) from suction restrictor valve
3 Clamp off feed line (30f) from power steering pump supply reservoir with clamp (08)
4 Detach feed line (30f) from power steering pump
5 Unscrew high-pressure expansion hose (30i) from power steering pump
6 Attach connecting fitting(040a) to high-pressure expansion hose (30i)
7 Attach connecting hose (040b) to power steering pump
8 Connect tester (039) between connecting fitting (040a) and connecting hose (040b)
9 Attach feed line (30f) to power steering pump and remove clamp (08)
10 Plug connector (arrow) into suction restrictor valve
11 Fill supply reservoir
DANGER:
- Risk of accident from the vehicle starting off by itself when the engine is running. Risk of injury from bruises and burns if you hold your hand into engine when it is started or when it is running.
- Secure vehicle to prevent it moving off.
- Wear closed and close-fitting work clothes.
- Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.
12 Engine ON
13 Increase engine speed to approx. 1000 rpm
Inspect
14 Close throttle valve (039a) and check the maximum operating pressure
NOTE: The check should be brief in order to prevent the oil temperature from rising too high.
15 Engine OFF
16 Clamp off feed line (30f) with clamp (08) and detach from power steering pump
17 Unplug connector (arrow) from suction restrictor valve
18 Disconnect tester (039)
19 Detach connecting fitting (040a) and connecting hose (040b)
Install
20 Replace seals of high pressure stretch hose (30i)
21 Screw high pressure stretch hose (30i) onto power steering pump
22 Attach feed line (30f) to power steering pump and remove clamp (08)
23 Plug connector (arrow) into suction restrictor valve
24 Filling and bleeding power steering pump
25 Inspect power-steering pump for leaks.
- Visual inspection
26 Install air cleaner.
