The automatic air conditioning housing serves to hold the following components
- Air guide flaps (1 to 11)
- Dust filter (20)
- Blower with blower control (21)
- Activated charcoal filter (22)
- Evaporator (23)
- Heater core (24)
- Expansion valve
- Actuator motors
forming one complete unit.

The automatic air conditioning housing serves for distribution of the air required for ventilation of the vehicle to the appropriate air ducts and air outlets depending on the desired temperature in the passenger compartment.

The air guidance is dependent on various operating states such as:
- Heater mode
- Cooling mode
- Normal operation
- Heater operation with activated charcoal filter
- Cooling mode with activated charcoal filter
