Removal and Replacement

Remove/install front engine mounts and/or engine support








Right engine side (removal of engine mount and engine support)

1 Disconnect ground lead from battery

NOTE: Turn key in electronic ignition switch EIS into position "0". Key cannot be withdrawn.


NOTE: Vehicles with Keyless-Go code 889: Switch off engine, remove Keyless Go cards from the vehicle and keep outside the range of the transmitter.

CAUTION: Do not connect quiescent current retention unit. A short circuit could occur if the electrical line circuit 30 (B+) comes into contact with ground.

2 Remove bottom engine compartment paneling
3 Unclip cover at front end of engine.
4 Remove air cleaner housing with air intake pipes (1)
5 Remove ribbed V-belt.
6 Disconnect electrical lines at generator (G2).

NOTE: Installation: Observe installation position of lines.

7 Dismount generator (G2) and place in the engine compartment to the side.
8 Fit on engine supporting frame.
9 Unscrew bolts of engine mount (5) to front axle carrier

NOTE: Unscrew on both sides.

CAUTION: The anti-twist locks in the front axle beam must latch into the retaining grooves of the engine mount (8, 9).

10 Raise engine at front lifting eye.

CAUTION: Ensure that the rear of the engine does not touch the body.

11 Dismount right engine support (11) at crankcase, for this step unscrew bolts (12) and take out right engine support (11) with engine mount (9) toward front.


CAUTION: Installation: Replace bolts (12).

12 Dismount engine mount (9) from right engine support (11)

NOTE:
- Installation: The anti-twist lock (arrow) at the engine mount (9) must latch into the retaining groove in the engine support (11) (arrow).
- Dispose of engine mount at scrap yard.

Left engine side (removal of engine mount or engine mount with engine support)

13 Remove power steering pump (13)
- Vehicles without Active Body Control code 487a
- Vehicles with Active Body Control code 487a

14 Dismount refrigerant compressor (A9) from bracket and place to the side

NOTE: Adjust Torx double box-type wrench for lower front screw

15 Dismount engine mount (8) from left engine support (10)
- Removal of engine mount (8).

NOTE: Installation:
- The anti-twist lock (arrow) at the engine mount (8) must latch into the retaining groove in the engine support (10) (arrow).
- Dispose of engine mount at scrap yard.

16 Dismount left engine support (10) at crankcase, for this step unscrew bolts (12) and take out left engine support (10) with engine mount (8) toward front.
- Removal of left engine support (10) and engine mount (8).

CAUTION: Installation: Replace bolts (12).

17 Install in the reverse order.
