Radiator: Service and Repair



Removing And Installing Radiator






1 Remove bottom engine compartment paneling


DANGER:
- Risk of injury to skin and eyes from scalding from escaping hot coolant. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.
- Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 degrees C.
- Open cap slowly and release the pressure.
- Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles.
- Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.


CAUTION: See notes on coolant

2 Drain coolant at radiator (1)

NOTE: Open drain plug of radiator (3).

3 Disconnect automatic oil lines at connection (5, 6) at radiator (1)

NOTE: Seal oil lines.

4 Disconnect coolant line (radiator and thermostat housing) (2) at radiator (1)
5 Disconnect connection of coolant line (radiator and coolant pump) (7), connection of coolant line (radiator and expansion reservoir) (10) at radiator (1)
6 Remove fan shroud (9).
7 Dismount condenser at nuts (8) at radiator

NOTE: Dismount AC line at radiator (arrow).

8 Dismount bracket of radiator (4).
9 Take out radiator (1)

NOTE: Installation: The studs on the radiator must be seated at the bottom in the rubber mounts of the crossmember.

10 Install in the reverse order
11 Pour in coolant

DANGER:
- Risk of accident from the vehicle starting off by itself when the engine is running. Risk of injury as working around the engine during start-up or while running may result in contusions and burns
- Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving.
- Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
- Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.


12 Check oil level in automatic transmission, correct if necessary
13 Inspect cooling system for leaks.
