AR01.45-P-7500FC Remove/Install Oil Pan



Remove/install oil pan

Remove/Install
1 Remove engine compartment paneling
2 Drain and collect engine oil.
3 Remove engine trim panel or air cleaner

NOTE:
- On model 202.033/093, 208.370/374/470 the air cleaner is integrated in the engine trim panel.
- Remove engine cover or air filter by lifting upwards from the cylinder head covers.

4 Remove viscous fan (1)
- All except model 208.365/465

NOTE: Right-hand thread!

5 Remove fan shroud (2).
- All except model 208 with M 113
- On models fitted with suction fan, first of all separate the plug connection of the suction fan.

6 Remove resonance pipe (9) with resonance body (10)
- Separate plug connection of hot film mass air flow sensor (HFM-SFI) for this step, and unbolt resonance pipe at cylinder head cover.

NOTE: The resonance pipe is attached at the rear at the intake manifold with a plastic plate.

CAUTION: Do not damage plastic plate.

7 Remove hot film mass air flow sensor together with air intake pipe.
8 Remove anti-roll bar (6)
9 Detach fixture for ATF lines at top part and at bottom part of oil pan
10 Detach fixture of positive cable at top part of oil pan (7)
11 Separate plug connections of left sensors upstream and downstream of catalytic converter.
12 Remove left catalytic converter
- Only on model 208.370/374/470

CAUTION: Installation: Inspect seal for damage, replace if necessary.

- Clean connection points with emery cloth to remove combustion and corrosion residues. Replace nuts.

13 Separate electric cable at oil level sensor (B40)
14 Detach ATF lines on right and left at transmission bell
- Collect ATF, place ATF lines to the side and seal connections!

15 Unbolt ground cable from left engine support to front axle carrier
16 Remove oil pipe (4) from dipstick.

NOTE:
- Unscrew one bolt at cylinder head cover! Remove cable straps!
- Installation: Replace sealing ring.

17 Remove oil pan bottom section (3).
18 Unscrew bolts (5) of front engine mounts (8) at front axle carrier.
19 Fit on engine supporting frame.
20 Raise engine.

CAUTION:
- Ensure that the engine and its attached parts do not touch the body.
- Do not overtension coolant lines!


21 Remove oil pan top section (7)
- Take out oil pan to the front in direction of travel for this step; rotate crankshaft slightly, if necessary.

NOTE: Installation: Observe different bolt lengths and bolt diameters!

CAUTION: Installation: Application of sealing compound to oil pan: Engine 112.

NOTE: Information on application of sealant to oil pan.

22 Install in the reverse order

DANGER:
- Risk of accident. Accidents may result if the vehicle starts off unintentionally with the engine running. Risk of injury as working around the engine during start-up or while running may result in contusions and burns.
- Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.


23 Check oil level in automatic transmission and correct if necessary.
24 Read diagnostic trouble code memory and erase.
- Stored faults, which can result from lines removed or a simulation during installation or test work, have to be processed and erased in the fault memories after completing the work.

25 Run engine and inspect for leaks.
