Recall - Right Rear Seat Belt Latch Replacement

INSPECTION/REPLACEMENT OF SEAT BELT LATCH FOR THE RIGHT
REAR SEAT BELT POSITION
A. INSPECTION PROCEDURE

B. REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE

This campaign has been initiated because DCAG has determined a potential non-compliance exists in certain seatbelt latches. MBUSA will inspect and or replace the seat belt latch in the right rear seat belt position (1, Figure 1). Any seat belt latches marked with the batch number of 24229 must be replaced. Any seat belt latches below or above this noted batch number (24229), do not need to be replaced.

Prior to performing this Service Campaign, please check VMI to insure the vehicle is involved and to determine if the vehicle has been previously repaired or checked and is one of approximately 60 vehicles affected by this recall.

A. INSPECTION PROCEDURE

DANGER!
Injury Hazard when testing or repairing airbags or emergency tensioning retractors.

1. Prior to performing this Recall Campaign, carefully review and adhere to the safety instructions as indicated in the following document: See WIS: AS91.00-Z-0001-01A. Additionally, review WIS document SM91.40-P-0005P and this Recall Bulletin entirely prior to performing the recall itself.

2. Remove ignition key from ignition lock.

3. Fold up both rear seat lower cushions (1, Figure 1), and remove felt mat located below rear seat lower cushions.

4. Continue as indicated document: SM91.40-P-0005P.





5. Once the anchor fitting for the right rear seat belt latch has been exposed, check the stamped number located on the anchor fitting (arrow, circle, Figure 1).

Replace the seat belt latch, if the stamped number is 24229, if more/less no further action is required.

6. Reinstall in reverse order.

If the stamped number is indeed 24229, then continue with: "B. REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE ".

B. REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE

Injury Hazard when testing or repairing airbags or emergency tensioning retractors.

1. Carefully review and adhere to the safety instructions as indicated in the following document: See WIS: AS91.00-Z-0001-01A.

Additionally, review WIS document SM91.40-P-0006P.

2. Remove ignition key from ignition lock.

3. Replace anchor fitting stamped 24229 as per WIS document SM91.40-P-0006P, along with the removed right rear seat belt latch and return in shipping container as supplied with the replacement right rear seat belt latch.

4. Install the replacement right rear seat belt latch (ensure that stamped number is not 24229) and then continue to reinstall other items in reverse order.
