Function
Retracting the rear head restraints enables the driver to improve his/her view to the rear if so desired.
The function operates pneumatically by vacuum control. If the rear head restraints switch (N721/s4) in the upper control field control module (N72/1) is pressed, the rear SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/2) is sent a message by the interior CAN to retract the three rear head restraints and it forwards this message in the form of an electric signal to the rear head restraint re!ease valve (Y24/1) This causes the Y24/1 to switch the vacuum control to the pneumatic actuator for the head restraints and the head restraints are then retracted.
