The actuator motor (M16/6m1) in the throttle valve actuator (M16/6) shifts the throttle valve (1) continuously from around 0 to up to 90 according to input from the engine control unit.
Hereby, the actual value potentiometer (M16/6r1, M16/6r2) indicates the current position of the of the throttle valve to the engine control unit.
A. Ignition "Off"
In the absence of voltage, the position of the throttle valve is determined by the spring capsule (2) (10 to 12 opening angle).
B. Ignition "On"
When the ignition is switched on, the actuator motor in the throttle valve actuator is operated by the engine control unit.
The throttle valve adopts a position which depends on the coolant temperature.
C. Idle speed
Depending upon the coolant temperature and engine load, the actuator motor changes the rpm in the idle speed range by opening the throttle valve further (increased mixture) or closing it further.
(less mixture).
Here, the throttle valve can be closed further by the actuator motor against force of the spring capsule.
D. Driving mode
In the driving mode (full / partial load), the actuator motor changes the throttle valve position depending on the different load states and / or according to the input signals from the accelerator pedal sensor dependent on the performance maps.
E. Emergency running
If the actuator is disconnected, the throttle valve is positioned by the spring capsule at around 10 to 12 opening angle.
In the idle speed range, this results in an engine speed of
around 1800 rpm
Note: When the throttle valve actuator is connected to circuit 30 or 87 for the first time, the engine control unit carries out an adaptation of the actuator (learning the lower and upper mechanical end stop of the throttle valve) on its own.
