Function sequence for hazard warning
1 The hazard warning system switch (N72/1s5) is actuated and indicates this by flashing.
2 The upper control panel control module (N72/1) reports to the electronic ignition/starter switch control module (N73) "Hazard warning lamps ON".
3 The electronic ignition switch control module (N73) converts the hazard warning signal and sends the "hazard warning flasher ON" signal via the CAN interior to the front SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
The rear SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/2) serves as a central control unit for all flashing functions.
4 The rear SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/2) actuates the turn signal lamp (E3e1 and E4e1) and at the same time it reports over the CAN interior to the instrument cluster (A1), the left or right front door control module (N69/1 or N69/2) and the control module with front fuse and relay module (N10/1) "hazard warning flasher ON".
5 The turn signal lamp (E1e5 and E2e5) is actuated:
- The left and right front door control module (N69/1 and N69/2) actuate the left outside mirror turn signal lamp (E6/5) and the right outside mirror turn signal lamp (E6/6).
- The front SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/1) actuates the turn signal lamps (E1e5 and E2e5).
6 The instrument cluster (A1) signals the hazard warning action visually and acoustically:
- The left and right turn signal indicator lamps (A1e1 and A1e2) flash on and off.
- The audible turn signal indicator (A1h2) ticks in time with the flash frequency.
Automatic triggering of the hazard warning lamps
In the event of an accident in which the airbag is triggered, the hazard warning lamps are actuated automatically. Automatic triggering can be canceled by actuating the hazard warning system switch (N72/1s5).
