If the Active Service System (ASSYST) is lacking measured values due to sensor failure, for example, it switches to stored substitute values. A corresponding entry is made in the diagnostic trouble code memory of the relevant control unit. If the operating voltage fails, the data are retained. The times without operating voltage (empty or disconnected batteries) are not recorded, but may be subsequently taken into consideration via STAR DIAGNOSIS.
