Function
Residual engine heat utilization enables the vehicle to be heated even when the ignition is OFF.
To do so, the residual engine heat utilization system uses the residual heat from the engine and routes it into the passenger compartment via the blower motor (A32m1). The residual engine heat utilization is only possible when the ignition is switched off.

After pressing the REST button on the HEAT [HAU] control and operating unit (N18) or the AAC [KLA] control and operating unit (N22) (with code (450) Taxi version or with code (670) Residual engine heat utilization system (REST [MRA]) or at the comfort AAC (C-AAC [K-KLA]) control and operating unit (N22/7) the following program sequence is specified:
- Blend air flaps controlled
- Coolant circulation pump (M13) ON
- Blower motor (A32m1) automatically supplied with a control voltage of 30 %
- Defroster and footwell flaps are automatically adjusted for approx. 30 seconds
- Activated charcoal filter flap open (no activated charcoal filter operation possible in vehicles with comfort AAC (C-AAC [K-KLA]) control and operating unit (N22/7))
- Footwell flaps 100 % OPEN
- Defroster vent flaps 66 % OPEN
- Fresh air vents 20 % open
- Fresh air and air recirculation flap in fresh air position

End of program
- Repeated actuation of REST button
- Expiration of the time function of approx. 30 min. (repeated actuation possible)
- When battery voltage is less than 11 V, the LED on the REST button flashes on and off
- Ignition On

During residual engine heat utilization only the REST button and the set point adjusters can be actuated, all other function keys are locked.
