Removing And Installing Brake Booster
DANGER:
- Risk of poisoning from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury from skin and eye contact with brake fluid.
- Pour brake fluid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.

1 Remove master brake cylinder (1)
- Check master brake cylinder for leaks at rear of primary piston.
2 Unplug diaphragm travel sensor connector (A7/7x1) from BAS diaphragm travel sensor (A7/7b1)
3 Unplug connector of release switch (A7/s1)
4 Disconnect vacuum line (8) from brake booster
NOTE: Operate brake pedal several times until vacuum in brake booster is reduced.
5 Unfasten module housing (120) and push to the side
- Refer to, removing and installing module housing
6 Remove mechanical stop lamp switch
7 Remove cover above pedal assembly
8 Pull locking element (25) off brake booster to brake pedal and pull out pin (26)
9 Unscrew retaining nuts (23) for brake booster
10 Remove brake booster (16)
CAUTION: Do not damage the front timing case and the rubber sleeve when removing and installing the brake booster.
NOTE: Installation: Replace gasket (21) if necessary.
11 Install in the reverse order
