Remove/Install Front Axle Brake Caliper
- with CODE (949) EVOLUTION sport package
- with CODE (950) EVOLUTION AMG sport package






Remove/Install

DANGER:
- Risk of poisoning from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury from brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes.
- Pour brake fluid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.
- Risk of death. Death may result if vehicle slips or topples from the lifting platform.
- Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.


1 Raise vehicle.
2 Remove wheels
3 Disconnect brake hose from brake line

CAUTION:
- See notes on repairs to brake system
- See notes on handling brake fluid


4 Disconnect brake hose from fixed brake caliper (31a)

CAUTION: Seal connections with plugs immediately, in order to avoid damage due to brake fluid running out.

NOTE:
When loosening or tightening the brake line on the brake hose, take care not to twist the bracket. Counterhold at two flats on brake hose using open-end wrench.

5 Disconnect left front brake pad contact sensor (S10/1) at the connector of the left front brake pad contact sensor (S10/1x1)

NOTE: Removal on the right side is analogous to the left side.

CAUTION: See notes on stalling contact sensors for brake wear indicator

6 Unscrew connector of left front brake pad contact sensor (S10/1x1) from fixed brake caliper

NOTE:
- Installation:
Replace self-locking bolt for connector of contact sensor (31e).
- Removal on the right side is analogous to the left side.

7 Remove brake pads (43) on front axle
8 Unscrew bolts (35) and remove fixed caliper (31a)

NOTE: Installation: Replace bolts (35).

9 Install in the reverse order
10 Bleed brake system.

Inspect
11 Check brake system for leaks
