Removing And Installing Outer Support





















Removing

DANGER:
- Risk of injury to fingers being Jammed or squeezed when removing and installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/tailgate and sliding roof
- When moving components ensure that no body parts or limbs are in the area of movement

1 Remove rubber bellows on sliding/pop-up roof cover (1)

NOTE: Rail can remain on sliding/pop-up roof cover(6)

2 Move sliding/pop-up roof to pop-up position

3 Unscrew Torx screws (2) from outer support (3)
4 Pivot outer support (3) downward
5 Remove outer support (3) from guide rail (4) toward front
6 Remove overhead control panel control module (N70)

Installation
7 Clean sliding jaws of outer support (3) with rag
8 Lubricate sliding jaws of outer support (3)
9 Insert outer support (3) into guide rail (4)
10 Pivot outer support (3) upward
11 Screw Torx screws (2) in at outer support (3'

NOTE: Do not tighten completely.

12 Close pop-up/sliding roof panel (1)

CAUTION:
- Close only until sliding jaw (5) of release lever (6) is against the gate track (7) of the cover carrier
- The sliding jaw (5) of the release lever (6) should not reach into the gate track (7) of the cover carrier.
- The sliding/pop-up roof cover (1) must have clearance when pulling upward

13 Press outer support (3) upward, simultaneously press sliding/pop-up roof cover (1) downward and tighten Torx screws (2) on outer support (3)

CAUTION: The sliding/pop-up roof cover (1) should not have any play.

Screw for outer support - 5 N.m

14 Ensure that release lever (6) runs properly into guide on gate track (7) of cover carrier by closing again

CAUTION: The sliding jaw (5) of the release lever (6) should move into the gate track (7) without hitting.

15 Install overhead control panel control module (N70)
16 Install rubber bellows on sliding/pop-up roof cover (1)
17 Synchronize sliding/pop-up roof
