Removing And Installing Guide Rail For Sliding/pop-up Roof Cover






















Removing
1 Remove headliner
2 Remove sliding/pop-up roof cover
3 Remove sun blind from sliding/pop-up roof
4 Remove sliding/pop-up roof motor
5 Remove sun blind motor from sliding/pop-up roof
6 Unscrew Torx screws (1) from guide tube [27Unscrew Torx screws (3) from guide rail (4)
8 Remove guide tube (2) together with guide rails (4) through passenger door

CAUTION: Hold guide rails (4) parallel to one another, otherwise guide tube (2) can be bent.

NOTE: Rear sun blind couplings are not secured and can fall out.

9 Move slide (5) toward rear

NOTE: Until Torx screws (6) are accessible

10 Unscrew Torx screws (6)
11 Pull guide rail (4) out of guide tube (2)

Installing
12 Slide guide rail (4) into guide tube (2)

NOTE: Position control cables correctly.

13 Screw in Torx screws (6)
14 Move slide (5) toward front against stop

CAUTION: Ensure that cover carrier (7) is positioned properly. LEI Left and right side.

15 Move front sun blind coupling (8) toward rear against stop

CAUTION:
- Position assembly wedge on control cable as far as possible to the inside.
- Do not damage front sun blind coupling (8).
- Do not damage paint.


See "Special Tool" given below.

16 Move guide tube (2) together with guide rails (4) into vehicle through passenger door and align
17 Screw Torx screws (3) into guide rail (4)

CAUTION: Tighten Torx screws (1) only hand-tight. It should be possible to move guide rail (4) to the side, however, it should make contact to the frame.

18 Screw Torx screws (1) into guide tube (2)
19 Install sun blind motor on sliding/pop-up roof
20 Install sliding/pop-up roof motor
21 Install sun blind on sliding/pop-up roof
22 Install sliding/pop-up roof cover
23 Close sliding/pop-up roof cover

NOTE: With Allen wrench on roof system drive unit(M12).

24 Center sliding/pop-up roof cover at side

CAUTION: Outer edge of sliding/pop-up roof cover should be flush with the outer contour of the wind deflector and the rear glass roof.

25 Open and close sliding/pop-up roof cover three times.

NOTE:
- With Allen wrench on roof system drive unit(M12).
- This decreases tension and centers the guide rails (4).

26 Tighten Torx screws (3) on guide rail (4)
27 Install headliner
28 Adjusting sliding/pop-up roof cover
