Remove/Install Sliding/Pop-up Roof Frame
Remove
1 Prepare glue cartridge
2 Open side window in driver and passenger door
3 Remove headliner
4 Remove molding on windshield.
5 Close sliding/pop-up roof
6 Remove water deflector
See "Special Tool - Assembly wedge" given below.
7 Remove seal below wind deflector (1)
8 Mask roof frame (2) with adhesive tape (3)
9 Unscrew telephone antenna
10 Install adhesive tape (3) between rear window (4) and glass roof (5)
CAUTION: Otherwise seal on rear window (4) can be damaged
DANGER:
- Risk of injury from slipping when clamping blade in the multicutter and from glass splinters when cutting out glued windows.
- Always interrupt air supply when inserting or removing blade
- Wear protective gloves and eye protection
11 Cut out sliding/pop-up roof frame (6)

12 Install suction cups at rear of glass roof

13 Remove sliding/pop-up roof frame (6) from body
Install
14 Remove adhesive tape (3) from roof frame (2)
15 Remove adhesive tape (3) between rear window (4) and glass roof (5)
16 Prepare body flange for installation of window

17 Align sliding/pop-up roof frame (6) in body opening
Gap dimensions
Wind deflector to sliding/pop-up roof - 2.5 (±1.5) mm
Sliding/pop-up roof to glass roof, rear - 2 (+0.5) mm
Glass roof, rear, to rear window Windshield to outer - 9.5 (±0.5) mm
Mounting clamp of trim strip - 7.5 (±0.5) mm

18 Prepare sliding/pop-up roof frame (6) for installation
19 Apply glue
CAUTION: Install sliding/pop-up roof frame (6) within five minutes, otherwise adhesive force of glue starts to decrease
NOTE: Height of glue bead approx 13 mm

20 Remove protective foil from rubber spacers
21 Install sliding/pop-up roof frame (6)
NOTE: The curing time (time before vehicle is driven), is approx 1 hour from the time the sliding/pop-up roof frame (6) is installed
Height adjustment for glass roof in relation to rear window
Glass roof, rear, higher than rear window - 0 (±2) mm

22 Screw in telephone antenna
23 Install seal below wind deflector (1)
24 Install water deflector
NOTE: New sliding/pop-up roof frame is delivered with completely adjusted clips

25 Install windshield molding
26 Install headliner
27 Clean sliding/pop-up roof frame (6)
