Remove/Install Rear Glass Roof






















Remove
1 Prepare glue cartridge

CAUTION: Heat-up time mm 20 minutes

See "Commercially Available Tools - Cartridge preheater" given below.

2 Open side window in driver's door
3 Remove headliner
4 Unclip cover (2) from rear sun blind

See "Special Tool - Assembly wedge" given below.

5 Remove water deflector

See "Special Tool - Assembly wedge" given below.

6 Remove seal from rear of glass roof
7 Insert spacer blocks (3) into side retaining rails

See "Special Tool - Spacer block" given below.

8 Mark height of glass roof (1) with pencil (4) on spacer blocks (3)
9 Remove spacer blocks (3)

CAUTION: Mark position of spacer blocks (3) according to corresponding number

10 Check gaps

Gap dimensions
- Wind deflector to tiling/sliding roof - 2.5 (±0.5) mm
- Sliding/pop-up roof to glass roof, rear - 2 (+0.5) mm
- Glass roof, rear, to rear window Windshield to outer - 9.5 (±0.5) mm
- mounting clamp of trim strip - 7.5 (±0.5) mm

11 Move tilting/sliding roof to pop-up position
12 Unscrew telephone antenna
13 Install adhesive tape (5) between rear window (6) and glass roof (1)

CAUTION: Otherwise seal on rear window (6) can be damaged

DANGER:
- Risk of injury from slipping when clamping blade in the multicutter and from glass splinters when cutting out bonded windows
- Always interrupt air supply when inserting or removing blade
- Wear protective gloves and eye protection


14 Cut out window with cutting blade

NOTE: In doing so the pane is destroyed and must be replaced

15 Remove window from body with suction cup;

Install
16 Remove adhesive tape (5) between rear window (6) and glass roof (1)
17 Prepare body flange for glazing

See "Special Tools - Cutting blade" given below.

18 Aligning window in body opening

Height adjustment glass roof, rear to rear window
Glass roof, rear, higher than rear window - 0 (+2) mm

Gap dimensions
- Wind deflector to tiling/sliding roof - 2.5 (±0.5) mm
- Sliding/pop-up roof to glass roof, rear - 2 (+0.5) mm
- Glass roof, rear, to rear window Windshield to outer - 9.5 (±0.5) mm
- mounting clamp of trim strip - 7.5 (±0.5) mm

19 Prepare windshield for insertion
20 Apply glue

CAUTION:
- Heat-up time mm 20 minutes
- Install window within five minutes before adhesive force of glue starts decreasing


NOTE: Height of adhesive bead approx 13 mm

21 Remove protective foil from rubber spacers
22 Install window

NOTE: The curing time (time before vehicle is driven), is approx 2 hours from the time the window is installed

23 Screw in telephone antenna
24 Install seal on rear glass roof
25 Remove water deflector
26 Install cover (2) on rear sun blind
27 Install headliner
28 Close sliding / pop-up roof
29 Check height adjustment

Height adjustment tilting/sliding roof to glass roof, rear
- Sliding/pop-up roof higher than glass roof, rear - 0 (+1.5) mm

30 Adjusting tilting/sliding roof panel

NOTE: Only when height adjustment is not correct

31 Clean glass roof
