Electric Sliding/Pop-Up Roof

Tilting/Sliding Roof Location:

Task
To open and close the combined tilting/sliding roof

Design
The tilting/sliding roof is driven by a DC motor equipped with a thermal circuit breaker.
Two Hall sensors are installed at the motor shaft for position measurement. To limit excess force, a pressure-sensitive resistance strip is provided on the glass panel's front rubber edging.

The rotation direction of the motor of the roof system drive unit (M12) is determined by the polarity of the actuating voltage from the overhead control panel control module (N70).

The polarity of the actuating voltage is set by means of a two-coil relay (center-zero relay with neutral position). The same motor is used for both tilting/sliding roof functions. Starting from the open tilting roof position, the motor's rotation causes the tilting roof to close. Continued rotation in the same direction beyond the "tilting/sliding roof closed" position causes the sliding roof to open.

Two Hall sensors deliver pulses to the overhead control panel control module (N70) for position measurement.
