Central Locking Operation With Mechanical Key

The mechanical key can only be used to lock and unlock the driver's door (national variant). This is done by purely mechanical means, without changing the status of the central locking. The anti-theft alarm system (ATA), code 551, is not deactivated. In vehicles with anti-theft alarm system (ATA), code 551, the main or backup key must therefore be inserted into the electronic ignition / starter switch control module (N73) in order to deactivate the alarm.


NOTE: It is no longer possible to operate the system with the mechanical key at the lock switch as the lock switches are no longer fitted.
