Upper Control Panel Control Module

Location
The upper control panel control module (N72/1) is located above the audio unit in the central area of the dashboard.

Function
The upper control panel control module (N72/1) operates with its own dedicated microprocessor which scans switches, actuates appropriate semiconductor switches and exchanges data with the interior CAN.


The upper control panel control module (N72/1) performs the following tasks:

Scanning integral switches (depending on vehicle's equipment level):
- ESP OFF switch (N72/1s1)
- Rear head restraints switch (N72/1s4)
- Hazard warning system switch (N7Z/1s5)
- Interior central locking switch (N72/1s6)
- TS [AS]/MS [IRS] switch with ATA [EDW] function display (N72/1s7)
- PTS OFF switch (N72/1s8)
- Rear blind switch (N72/1s9)
- Left front HS [SIH] switch (N72/1s10)
- Right front HS [SIH] switch (N72/1s11)
- Rear wiper switch (N72/1s12) (model 203.2 only)

The following switches are not found on model 203.2 or model 203.7:
- Rear blind switch (N72/1s9)

Actuating:
- The integral automatic child seat recognition airbag OFF indicator lamp (N72/1e1)
- The illumination of the integrated switches
- The function illumination of the integral switches
- The illumination of the 5TH switch (N72s12)
- The left front seat heated cushion (R13/1)
- The right front seat heated cushion (R13/2)

Actuation occurs by means of semiconductor switches.

The overhead control panel control module (N72/1) is connected with the interior CAN for the purpose of data exchange.
