GF82.85-P-2011PJ TV-mode, Function
MODELS 203 up to 23.4.04
- with CODE (352a) COMAND operating and display system
- with CODE (498) Japan version
The LCD color display of the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) is used for television reception. TV reception is possible up to approx. 6 km/h and can be activated with the provided "TV" button. The system can also be controlled from all seats by infrared remote control. The TV tuner is integrated in the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3).
The audio signals are preamplified by the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3).The required tone settings (volume, bass, treble and fader) can be made on the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3).
TV mute, function
The "mute: function of the audio sources is maintained if it was activated before switching off.
If the audio signals have been muted, a "Mute" symbol appears in the top right of the display. To allow the "Mute" status to be displayed on the TV screen, the "Mute" status must be transmitted to the integrated TV tuner by transmitting a newly generated command.
The settings that existed when the ignition was switched off are restored when the TV is switched on again.
TV tuner system
The TV tuner that is integrated in the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) provides the picture and audio information for the TV system.
TV tuner components and functions
- 4-way antenna diversity (separate audio and video)
- Audio antenna diversity
- Video antenna diversity
- Frequency diversity
- Picture diversity
- Multistandard receiver
4-fold antenna diversity
Audio and picture antenna diversity work separately from each other in order to avoid interference noise or picture obliteration during mobile reception. The signals received by the antennas are fed into the TV tuner of the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) via 4 antenna inputs. The most suitable signal is independently selected by the receiver.
Audio antenna diversity
An adaptive quality signal derived from the low frequency (LF) audio signal is provided to the central processing unit.
After completing a programmable decision-making process, an antenna change is initiated.
Video antenna diversity
The video signal quality evaluation requests an antenna switchover from the central processing unit. A switchover signal is then output that switches on the alternative antenna. If the alternative antenna is better for the signal, it is retained.
Multistandard signal processing
The signals mixed by the TV tuner of the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) at intermediate frequency (IF) level are demodulated in the subsequent signal processing stage. The demodulation stage for the audio signal receives a narrow band filtered IF signal. This signal has virtually no video in it, therefore preventing sound interference.
AV input
There are 2 connections for external sources (e.g. video player or DVD player) on the TV tuner box. The video input format is the color video, blanking and synchronization signal (CVBS signal).
The video source outputs are connected to the coded inputs of the TV tuner box via an adapter cable.
Day/night design function
There is a facility for selecting between a day/night design and a black screen for the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) in the "Settings" menu.
The day/night setting is controlled using a brightness setting. The signal transmitter for this is a brightness sensor.
