General
The COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) is the central operating unit for the entertainment and communication systems integrated in the vehicle within the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST). A DVD drive, GPS receiver, turn rate sensor (gyro sensor), navigation processor and an audio amplifier are integrated. The COMAND operating, display and controller unit has a color display for showing information such as control menus, function button assignments and function status.

The following control units are actuated by the COMAND operating, display and controller unit over the MOST:
- Amplifier for sound system (N40/3), with code (810) Sound system
- CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) with code (819) 6-disk CD changer
- UPCI [UHI] (Universal Portable Cell Phone Interface) control unit (N123/1), with code (386) Mobile phone
- Voice control system control unit (A35/11), with code (813) Voice control system (VCS [SBS])
