Removal & Installation of Hydraulic Cylinder For Top Actuation

Preliminary jobs:
Remove coupe roof (operating instructions).
Remove baggage shelf. Service and Repair
Remove coverings in rear.
Remove occasional seats. [1][2]Procedures






Special tools





Self-made tool: Hook





Removal






1. Position top.






2. Remove bolt on top cylinder and press piston rod all the way in.
3. Remove hydraulic lines (a, b).

NOTE: The hydraulic lines and connections on the hydraulic cylinder must be plugged immediately with plugs part no.129 589 00 91 07 and part no.129 589 00 91 11 respectively.






4. Screw out screw
5. Remove hydraulic cylinder.

Installation

NOTE: When the hydraulic cylinder is replaced install water drain cuff on new cylinder.

6. Insert hydraulic lines (a, b).

NOTE: Bolt (internal hexagon) must be screwed in with screw locking compound (30 3 Nm). Screw in bolt (external hexagon) without screw locking compound (90 5 Nm).

7. Install hydraulic lines (a, b).






8. Pull piston rod up with hook (self-made).






9. Center piston rod with special tool 129 589 04 21 00 and install bolt.
10. Check for proper function and leakage.
