D. Installing the Handset and Cradle
1. Remove the Styrofoam-backed carpeted floor piece from the center console storage compartment.2. Place the template from the installation kit, or a piece of cardboard with the dimensions in Figure 17, on the Styrofoam side of the floor piece.
3. Mark and cut away the foam under the front portion of the carpeted floor-piece (Figures 18 and 19).
4. Place the template on top of the floor-piece, mark and then drill four 5 mm diameter holes where specified (Figure 20).
5. Cut a notch for the coil-cord where specified on the template.
6. Remove the two forward screws in the center console storage compartment.
7. Place the cradle mounting bracket in the console with the wider bracket section pointing toward the rear of the compartment and then secure it with the two previously removed screws (Figure 21).
8. Connect the RJ-45 and coaxial connectors from the coil-cord to the connectors on the compartment floor.
9. Reinstall the floor-piece and route the cables along the left side of the compartment.
Note:
Be sure to route the coil-cord through the notch created in step 5. Confirm that the holes drilled in step 4 align with the inserts on the mounting bracket and adjust them if necessary.
10. Disassemble the cradle by removing the two Phillips screws in the cradle cup portion (Figure 22).
11. Enlarge the four brass insert openings in the cradle base portion with a 4-mm (5/32-in.) drill (Figure 23).
Note:
DO NOT enlarge the two center inserts used to secure the two cradle halves together.
12. Place the cradle lower half over the four holes in the console floor and secure it with four M4 X 10 machine screws (Figure 24).
13. Reassemble the cradle cup portion and secure it with the two previously removed screws from step 10 (Figure 25).
14. Install the handset battery, connect the coilcord, and place the telephone in the cradle (Figure 26).
