C. Mounting the (PSE) Module and (VRM)
1. Locate the (Figure 3):
^ 25-pole D-connector
^ 5-pole D-connector
^ 4-pole antenna switch connector
^ coaxial cable from the center console
^ fiber optic connector
^ power antenna coaxial cable coupling assembly
2. Mount the antenna splitter to the bracket with two M3.5 X 8 Torx self-taping screws (Figure 4).
3. Mount the antenna splitter assembly to the back wall of the left trunk well (A, Figure 5):
a. loosen the nut securing the bumper to the rear of the body
b. slide the antenna splitter assembly mounting foot between the body and washer
C. tighten the nut
4. Disconnect the mini-UHF coupling from the bumper antenna to the Tele Aid primary antenna lead.
5. Connect the bumper antenna mini-UHF to the antenna splitter jack labeled ANTENNA (B, Figure 5).
6. Connect the primary Tele Aid antenna connector to the antenna splitter jack labeled EMERGENCY (C, Figure 5).
7. Connect the antenna splitter COMPENSATOR/BOOSTER cable to the linear compensator jack labeled ANTENNA (D, Figure 5).
8. Cut a flap-opening (left, right, and bottom only) approximately 1-1/2 inches high X 2 inches wide in the forward lower section of the left trunk liner panel (Figure 6).
9. Route the antenna coaxial cable from the console, 25-pole D-connector, 15-pole D-connector, and fiber optic (D2B) cables through the flap-opening while reinstalling the trunk liner panel (Figure 6).
10. Route the antenna cable from the antenna switch through the hole in the rear of the trunk liner panel (Figure 7).
11. Mount the PSE module to the mounting plate with the optical connector facing up, and secure it with five M4 X 6 screws (Figure 8).
Note:
If the CD changer is to be installed, the CD changer bracket will be used for the final telephone component assembly mounting. The telephone component sub-assembly will then mount to the CD changer bracket outer wall.
12. Place the linear compensator, with the 14-pole connector facing up, into the mounting plate recess and secure it with four M3.5 X 8 Torx screws (Figure 9).
13. Connect the 25-pole Y-connector labeled PSE to the PSE and the 14-pole green connector to the linear compensator (Figure 10).
14. Place the VRM into the second bracket recess and secure it with two M3.5 X 8 Torx screws (Figure 10).
15. Proceed as follows:
^ If installing the CD changer, proceed to step 16.
^ If installing the telephone only, skip to step 17.
16. Main bracket assembly - telephone & CD
a) Place the CD base bracket (basket) over the two studs in the left side trunk well bottom and secure it with two M6 nuts.
b) Secure the top of the bracket with two # 12 sheet metal screws into the longitudinal rail clips (Figure 11).
C. Secure the telephone component subassembly to the back of the CD 'drop-in' bracket with two M5 x 6 machine screws (Figure 12).
17. Main bracket assembly - telephone only
^ Secure the telephone component subassembly to the back of the telephone base bracket (Part Number Q 6 82 0396) with two M5 x 6 machine screws (Figure 13).
18. Place the completed assembly near the left side trunk well and connect the 25-pole vehicle harness to the PSE and linear compensator 25-pole Y-cable (Figure 14 [shown with the CD changer]).
19. Remove the protective caps and connect the fiber optic cables to the connector receptacles on the side of the PSE and VRM (Figure 14).
Note:
Be sure to place the connector labeled TEL into the PSE and the connector labeled VR into the VRM.
20. Connect the antenna switch coaxial cable to the linear compensator jack labeled Antenna (the bottom connector after installation) (Figure 14).
Note:
Be sure that the proper coaxial connections are made. DO NOT reverse the connections in steps 20 and 21.
21. Connect the coaxial cable from the center console to the linear compensator jack labeled Portable (the top connector after installation) (Figure 14).
22. Connect the 15-pole D-connector to the VRM (Figure 14).
23. If installing the telephone with the CD changer, carefully lower the completed assembly into the well and secure it with four M5 X 10 machine screws (Figure 15).
24. If installing the telephone only, lower the completed assembly over the two studs in the well bottom and secure it with two M6 nuts. Secure the bracket-top with one # 12 sheet metal screw into the longitudinal rail clip (Figure 16).
25. Place the trunk bracket cover over the telephone components and secure it with two M3.5 x 8 self-taping Torx screws and two M3.5 plat washers.
