Check Front Axle Supporting Joints







DANGER:
- Lethal injuries are possible if vehicle slips off of lifting platform
- Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer

1 Remove front wheels
2 Attach dial gauge (022) with magnet carrier (015) to the bottom of the control arm (4) and pre-tighten

NOTE: The feeler must be set firmly up against the face of the supporting joint dome cap (7) with an indicating pretightening of 3mm.

3 Determine the play in the supporting joint (7)

CAUTION: Steering angle must not be altered while measuring.

NOTE:
- Determine the amount of play in the supporting joint (7) through vertical pulling and pushing of the wheel hub
- If measurement yields a play ≥ 4 mm the supporting joint (7) must be replaced, refer to Replace supporting joint.

4 Repeat measuring procedure on the other vehicle side
5 Fit front wheels
