Starter Motor: Service and Repair



Removing And Installing Starter







DANGER:
- Risk of explosion from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury from caustic burns to eyes and skin from battery electrolyte or from handling damaged lead acid batteries. Notes on battery
- No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking.
- Wear acid-protective gloves, clothing and eye protection. Pour battery electrolyte only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.


1 Disconnect ground cable of battery
2 Remove bottom engine compartment panel
3 Disconnect electric cables (1, 2)

Nut of connection of circuit 30 - 14 N.m
Nut of connection circuit 50 - 6 N.m

4 Remove bracket (6)
5 Remove brackets (4, 5 and 7)
6 Unbolt rear engine mount at frame
7 Unscrew screws (3)

Bolt, starter to crankcase - 42 N.m

8 Take starter (M1) down and out

NOTE: Engine 104 in model 202: turn steering slightly to the left

9 Install in the reverse order
10 Carry out operational check
11 Make electrical system operational
