Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley: Service and Repair
Remove, Install Belt Pulley/Vibration Damper
1 Remove viscous fan clutch
- Engines fitted with viscous fan clutch
2.1 Remove fan shroud (8)
- Vehicles fitted with fan shroud.
2.2 Remove fan shroud together with engine/AC electric suction fan
- Vehicles fitted with suction fan.
4 Remove poly V-belt of compressor (9a)
- Engines 111 fitted with compressor.
5 Remove poly V-belt (9)
6 Rotate piston of cylinder 1 to TDC
- So that parallel key (7) is pointing vertically up.
7 Install retaining lock (3) front crankshaft/ring gear
8 Unscrew central bolt (5) together with dished washers (6)
NOTE: Installation: Oil dished washers (6) and thread of central bolt (5), fit on dished washers (6) with concave side facing bolt head.
9 Pull off hub of belt pulley/vibration damper (62)
- If vibration damper is tight
- Inspect hub for scores.
- If signs of scores are present caused by the radial seal, Replace front crankshaft radial seal and install in repair position.
NOTE: Installation:
- Align parallel key (7).
- Turn to ensure that the slot is aligned with the parallel key (7) in the crankshaft.
- If concentricity and axial runout problems exist, Inspect axial runout and concentricity of belt pulley/vibration damper.
10 Install in the reverse order.
